Makeup Magic Makes Me Happy – By Melly Niko
Although there’s so much negativity spouted by the media and society about makeup, I still hold steadfast to the belief that makeup has been my constant friend – there for me when I was low and there for me when life was grand.
Despite the hype about relinquishing your makeup brushes, the fact remains, makeup should still be a staple in your daily life. Look at Hollywood for instance; even those supposed natural beauties need a little touch up from time to time. What do you think helps bring out their natural attributes?
Makeup has always brought a smile to my face. I love to see people look and feel their best. Nothing brings me more pleasure than to look in the mirror and know that I’m walking out my door looking good and feeling more confident than ever.
If you’re like me and you love amazing colors like pink, red, and peach, then, you have the uncanny ability to recognize the beauty in ordinary objects. Without color, the skyline would be dull, the landscape would be virtually barren, and nature would be nonexistent. Would you want to live in a world devoid of color, life, and vibrancy? Of course not! You want to be surrounded by lush landscapes and fields full of vibrant flowers.
There are many who claim makeup is harmful to your skin and to your psyche, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Makeup actually helps protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun and dust. Foundation, when applied correctly, prevents the sun’s harmful rays from penetrating your skin and keeps them from clogging your pores with dust particles. So why not take the time to apply it in the morning and ensure your foundation and moisturizer are properly applied for enhanced protection and a great look to carry you through your day.
Traversing through life is no easy feat these days. We’re expected to conform to societal norms and standards. We’re expected to keep up with the latest trends and happenings. With such busy schedules, how are we to keep up? It’s bad enough if we miss a step, society will do everything they can to make us feel inferior, thus, destroying our self-esteem and shattering our confidence. We’re in this constant struggle to want to please everyone while fighting to boost our morale and confidence.
There are many reasons to learn to love makeup. When I apply it, I can attest to how wonderful it makes me feel. I see my self-confidence reach greater heights. I arm myself with the confidence to perform every task to the best of my abilities, confident that I not only look good but feel good about myself. If you have the ability to do something that will give you a little boost, why not make the extra effort?
